Hello and welcome.
I’m Dr Donagh Ward, an experienced IACP-accredited counselling psychotherapist and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) practitioner. I have worked in counselling, psychotherapy and mental health education since 2005.
I provide confidential, one-to-one therapy for adults from my practice in Tramore, Co. Waterford, and online throughout Ireland.
The purpose of this site is to allow you to learn about counselling and psychotherapy, the services I offer, and how to book sessions.
Counselling and CBT in Waterford and Online
People come to therapy for many different reasons. You may be experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, grief, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, workplace pressures or a significant life change. You may wish to understand how earlier childhood or family experiences continue to affect you, or you may be struggling with intrusive or compulsive thoughts, addictive behaviours or difficulties connecting with other people.
You do not need to be experiencing a crisis or have a clearly defined “problem” to benefit from therapy. Counselling can also provide a safe and supportive space for personal development, greater self-understanding and exploring a sense that something in life does not feel quite right.
My approach combines person-centred talk therapy with practical Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) techniques. I tailor the work to the individual, providing an empathetic, respectful and non-judgemental environment in which you can speak openly and work towards meaningful change.
I am a fully accredited member of the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP) and practise in accordance with its professional code of ethics. Counselling is confidential, subject to the ethical and legal limits that I explain at the beginning of therapy.
